- No? Go to My DUO and apply for the student travel product. You will be kept informed of the progress by mail and email.
- Yes? If your application has been approved by DUO (and you have linked your personal OV-chipkaart ), then you can see in My DUO from when you can pick-up your student travel product at a pick-up machine. You can travel with the student travel product from the starting date.

If you applied for the student travel product well in advance (1-2 months), you should have been notified by the 15th. Contact DUO soon (050-599 77 55)
Did you apply for the product in the current month. Then you may only travel from the following month. Only if you applied on the 1st day of the month, you may travel that same month.

I am an MBO student. How do I apply for the student travel product?
If you are going to study at MBO, you must be 18 to receive student grants. However, you can get the student travel product before you turn 18. You can apply for it via My DUO. Apply on time and travel free or with discount by public transport between your room, study and home.

If you are going to study at college or university, you can apply for the student travel product via My DUO. Apply for it on time and travel free or with discounted public transport between your room, study and home.

How long am I entitled to the student travel product?
How long you are entitled to study financing and the student travel product depends on your education. DUO has described this for mbo, hbo and university.

Role distribution DUO, RSR and Customer Service OV-chipkaart
Do you have a question about the student travel product? Who do you ask? Many questions end up at DUO, but that organization cannot answer all questions. You have to deal with several organizations when you travel with the student travel product. Below is explained who is responsible for what and who you can contact.
DUO (Department of Education)
For all matters concerning entitlement to the student travel product, you will need to go to DUO. You also need to indicate to DUO whether you want a weekly or weekendabonnement and whether you want to change passes halfway through your studies, for example.
Through duo.com you arrange the following:
- Applying for student travel product
- Switching from weekly to weekendabonnement or vice versa
Please note: you mustcancel your student travel product at a pick-up machine . You can check whether the cancel was successful via My DUO.
RSR (Regisseur Studenten Reisrecht)
RSR works on behalf of the transport companies and ensures that you can actually travel with the student travel product. After DUO has approved your application for the student travel product, RSR links the student travel product to your OV-chipkaart number. If you link the student travel product to your personal OV-chipkaart via our site, you can pick-up the student travel product. To do this, you go to a pick-up machine with your OV-chipkaart .
Through studenttravelproduct.nl you arrange the following:
- linking student travel product to your OV-chipkaart
- Applying for Temporary Student Travel Product
- Submit claim request
- Request correction stop date
- Customer Service
OV-chipkaart
To travel with the student travel product, you need a personal OV-chipkaart . If you can no longer travel with your card because it is broken, lost or stolen, report this via My OV-chip and your card will be blocked. You can also arrange for a replacement card via OV-chipkaart.nl. With this new card you can pick-up your student travel product again (in the meantime, continue to travel with the Temporary student travel product, which can be requested via studentenreisproduct.nl).

- Apply for personal OV-chipkaart
- Reporting lost/stolen card
- Requesting a replacement card
- Apply for automatic recharge
