Why do I need to pick-up the student travel product?
The student travel product, as its name implies, is a product. To use it, you must first activate it on the card. We call this 'pick-up'. As soon as you have picked up the student travel product with your personal OV-chipkaart and your starting date (which you can find in My DUO) has started, you can travel with it.

Student travel product pick-up fails!
Choose which situation applies to you:
- According to DUO, my entitlement to the student travel product has started, but there is no student travel product waiting for me at the pick-up machine.
Have you already submitted a link request? When you submit a link request, you provide your OV-chipkaart number. Only once you have received confirmation that your link request has been approved and your entitlement to the student travel product has (almost) commenced can you pick-up the student travel product. - The wrong student travel product is waiting for me: I want a weekabonnement want a weekendabonnement.
The DUO website tells you how to change. - The situations mentioned above do not apply to me, but I still cannot pick-up the student travel product.
Check the following:- Did you accidentally forget to check out? You cannot pick-up your student travel product during a trip.
- Maybe your card is broken. Go to a counter of a public transport company to have this checked. If something is indeed wrong with your personal OV-chipkaart, replace the defective card via My OV-chip.
- Do you try to pick up your student travel product at an actual pick-up machine? Check through the service point finder for pickup machines near you.
- Is the correct card linked? Check by logging into the Mijn omgeving.
- According to DUO, my entitlement to the student travel product has started, but there is no student travel product waiting for me at the pick-up machine.

When can I pick-up my student travel product?
You can see in My DUO from when you can pick-up your student travel product at a pick-up machine. You can then travel with it from the moment your entitlement to the student travel product starts.

How long will the student travel product remain on the pick-up machine for me?
As long as you are entitled to the student travel product, it will remain ready for you at the collection machines.

Where can I find a pick-up machine ?
Check service points finder for pickup machines in your area. Choose "student travel product pick-up or cancel.
Note: If you have not yet checked out because you are still on the road, you cannot pick-up your student travel product.

How do I use my student travel product again after an internship abroad?
If you have used an OV-reimbursement abroad and you are back in the Netherlands, the Studentenreisproduct is automatically prepared for you at a pick-up machine by DUO. You can pick-up the Studentenreisproduct with your previously used OV-chipkaart. Please note: the Studentenreisproduct is only valid after the end date you filled in when you applied for public transport compensation. Have you purchased another card in the meantime? link If so, then first obtain it through our website before going to a pick-up machine .
Are you returning earlier than planned? Then report this via My DUO. Then do this in the month before you want to travel with your Student Travel Product again.

I have already linked my personal OV-chipkaart , but I don't have a student travel product yet. What should I do?
Have you applied for the student travel product from DUO?
No?
Go to My DUO and apply for the student travel product. You will be kept informed of the progress by mail and email.Yes?
If your application has been approved by DUO (and you have linked your personal OV-chipkaart ), then you can see in My DUO from when you can pick-up your student travel product at a pick-up machine.
