Personal OV-chipkaart stolen, lost, broken or expired?

  • My OV-chipkaart is broken. What should I do?

    Is there a crack or tear in your OV-chipkaart? Then go to My OV-chip and request a replacement card. On average, you will receive a new personal OV-chipkaart within a week and you will be able to travel again. In the meantime, you can use a temporary student travel product.

  • My OV-chipkaart has become technically defective, what should I do?

    Is your OV-chipkaart defective without any visible damage? To make sure your card is actually defective, you can have it read at a service desk. You will find these at the larger stations. In the meantime you can use a temporary student travel product.

  • My OV-chipkaart has expired. What should I do?

    Your personal OV-chipkaart has a validity of five years. You can renew this card online. You will receive your renewed card at home within a week. The student travel product, other subscriptions and automatic reload will be transferred from your old card to your new card. You can continue to travel with your old card until the date it is no longer valid. After that, use your new card.

  • I have lost my OV-chipkaart . What should I do?

    Lost your OV-chipkaart somewhere along the way? Then block your OV-chipkaart immediately via OV-chipkaart.nl and request a replacement card in the process.

  • My OV-chipkaart has been stolen

    It is very annoying if your OV-chipkaart containing your student travel product is stolen. Go directly to OV-chipkaart.nl and have your OV-chipkaart blocked.

  • My OV-chipkaart does not work and blocks

    It is very annoying when you want to check in and your OV-chipkaart does not work. This can have several causes.

    • Is the OV-chipkaart really visibly broken? Check if your card is defective.
    • Do you have a negative travel balance? Top this up to a minimum of € 10. Then you can travel again. If you only travel by bus, then a minimum supplement to € 4 is sufficient.
    • Forgotten to check out? If you have not checked out 12 times, your OV-chipkaart will be temporarily blocked. You can have this blocking removed at the counter of the public transport company where you last checked out.
  • Can I OV-chipkaart my OV-chipkaart with an OV-pas?

    It is not yet possible to travel with the student travel product via OVpay with an OV-pass.
