Cancel student travel product?

Did you do hbo or university, then you can find the deregistration date in studielink. Did you follow a mbo education. Then you can check the deregistration date via your program.

cancel you do at a pick-up machine and works as follows:

• Go to ov-chipkaart.nl and find the closest pick-up machine
• Hold your card in front of the reader (NS pick-uppick-up machine) or insert it into the card slot (other machines).
• Choose 'cancel products' (NS pickuppick-up machine), or 'More' and then 'cancel products' (other machines)
• Follow the instructions on the screen.
• Log into My DUO the next day and check if cancel was successful. The day after the cancel , your final stop date will be listed here.

Choose which situation applies to you:

• Have you tried it at a pick-up machine with a stop function? cancel is not possible at all machines. Find the vending machines in your area where you can cancel the student travel product.
• Is your OV-chipkaart broken, lost or expired and want to cancel? Please contact our customer service 085-110 99 88.

You can have the product stopped at the pick-up machine by someone from the Netherlands with your OV-chipkaart. This person can use the Step-by-step plan Follow. 

Should this fail because your OV-chipkaart is abroad, for example, please contact customer service +3185-1109988.

Note: on time cancel at the latest on the tenth day of the month in which you are no longer entitled to your student travel product. If you use your student travel product when you are no longer entitled to it, you will receive an ov debt from DUO.

After cancel your student travel product at the pick-up machine you will see a confirmation of the cancel on the screen. Always check via My DUO whether the cancel actually went well. The next day your final cancellation date is shown here. Is there no cancel date? Then the cancellation was not successful and you have to try again.

cancel your Student Travel Product is final and cannot be reversed. Did you accidentally cancel your Studentenreisproduct? If so, you will need to reapply for Student Travel Product via My DUO.

Please note: in case of a new application, the Student Travel Product only starts from the first of the following month. For example: on 2 September you accidentally stop your Student Travel Product and submit a new application on 4 September. Your Studentenreisproduct will then only be valid again on October 1.

If your right to student travel product is extended and therefore continues without interruption, you do NOT have to cancel your student travel product at a pick-up machine. If you are not entitled to student travel product for a short period of time, you do have to cancel it at the pick-up pick-up machine.

In doubt about whether you should cancel? Then check with the DUO Infoline (050-5997755, local rate). This way you can avoid accumulating debt. Did you stop your student travel product, but you start studying again? Then you can reapply for student travel product.

You don't have to stop the Temporary Student Travel Product, it expires automatically after seven days. (When you stop the Temporary Student Travel Product, you stop your regular student travel product and have to reapply for it again).

If your student travel product has been discontinued and is no longer on your OV-chipkaart , you can use your OV-chipkaart for other travel products. For example, there are special offers for ex-students.
