Temporary student travel product
Is your OV-chipkaart lost, stolen, expired or defective? Then it’s possible to apply for a temporary student travel product, so you can continue traveling within one hour. You can apply for a temporary student travel product with or without DigiD.
If you apply for a temporary student travel product, the student travel product on your personal OV-chipkaart gets blocked. Did you apply for the temporary student travel product but you found lost card back? Then it’s only possible to travel with your (old) card if you re-link the card to the student travel product again. After linking the card you can pick up your student travel product at a pick up machine within a hour. After picking up the student travel product you can continue traveling.
You can make use of the temporary student travel product for 7 days. It will expire automatically after 7 days. So you DON’T need to cancel the temporary student travel product (if you cancel the temporary student travel product, you also cancel your regular student travel product and have to apply for the student travel product again).
The steps
- Read the conditions (in Dutch) before applying for a temporary student travel product.
- Check whether your OV chip card is really expired / lost / stolen / defective.
- Arrange or buy an anonymous OV-chipkaart
- Immediately request a replacement card. If your card is expired you have to request a renewed card.
